Beaumont Hamel (Newfoundland Memorial Park)

Newfoundland Park is a permanent memorial to the Newfoundland regiment which in 1916 was part of the British Army. The 801 strong Battalion attached on the 1st day of the Somme offensive, by the end of the day the battalion had suffered 90% casualties.

The Caribou statue, the emblem of the Newfoundland Regiment was unveiled by Earl Haig on the 7th June 1925.
